Shh…I’m Telling You a Secret (Part 1)
Everyone has been through at least one. You know, those moments when life seems to be dragging you so far down to the ground that you fear the grittiness of the dirt in your teeth will be the only taste to ever again grace your tongue. Until, one day, a glorious crack begins to form in the foundation of your seemingly impalpable rock bottom, a fissure in the cement that has formed around your heart.
Where you once saw nothing but pregnant gray skies ready to burst at any moment, at a simple touch, those clouds begin to pull apart like cotton fibers. Streaks of gold begin flowing through, like a tractor beam melting away the shadows in a driving force of sunlight.
There are moments when, in a sudden, striking jolt that racks my entire being, I feel more alive and more real than I have ever been. In accordance with corny clichés, the first time I laid eyes upon your dimpled smile was just such a moment. I don’t believe in love at first sight. But the moment I heard you giggle, I knew I couldn’t live the rest of my days without ever again being the reason for the sound to escape your lips. In that moment, I had made a friend for life.
Or so I thought, once upon a time…
But, I digress.
